The Alive Inside Experience

It can be uncomfortable to talk about planning for unpleasant things like death, long term care, or caring for a declining parent, but even worse is what can happen when you don’t plan.
In my job, I’m no stranger to these kinds of topics. Thanks to Porter’s Call I recently had the opportunity to attend a private showing of Alive Inside at the Franklin Theatre, which was the 2014 Sundance Film Festival’s Audience Award Winner (and for good reason). It’s an amazing documentary discovering the healing power of music, specifically with those suffering from memory loss. While Alzheimer’s and dementia are considered grim topics, the film was insightful and uplifting! It’s amazing to see how many keys to healing are hidden in the everyday things of God’s creation.
Going forward as we meet with you and create financial plans to help prepare you for worst-case scenarios, we also encourage you to talk to your parents and loved ones about their favorite music.
If you are currently living with someone suffering from a memory loss illness or are worried your loved one may be experiencing memory loss, we encourage you to check out these resources.
